# SMSCat vs Awareness

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Awareness at 100% against SMSCat's 33%. Awareness also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.3) and monetization model (free vs freemium). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SMSCat sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Awareness sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Awareness holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 30 and 24 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 33% of SMSCat's written reviews are positive against 100% of Awareness's.

SMSCat ships an update every 8 days, Awareness every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
