# Steps vs Pedometer

The clearest difference is rating: Steps at 5.0 against Pedometer's 4.0. Steps also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Pedometer's advantage is ratings volume (7 vs 1) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Steps sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Pedometer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Steps holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pedometer has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Steps ships an update every 3 weeks, Pedometer fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
