# Steps vs StepWise

The clearest difference is ads: Steps at none against StepWise's shown. Steps also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). StepWise's advantage is ratings volume (6 vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Steps sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and StepWise sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Steps holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StepWise has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
