# TV Remote Control vs Universal TV

TV Remote Control and Universal TV both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 33% of Universal TV's written reviews are positive against 16% of TV Remote Control's. TV Remote Control's advantage is ratings volume (4.9K vs 745). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TV Remote Control sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Universal TV sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for TV Remote Control against 4.7 for Universal TV. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TV Remote Control has 4.9K ratings behind it against 745, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 16% of TV Remote Control's written reviews are positive against 33% of Universal TV's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
