# Carrier SmartHome vs Control4

Carrier SmartHome and Control4 both sit at 3.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 38% of Control4's written reviews are positive against 11% of Carrier SmartHome's. Control4 also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Carrier SmartHome's advantage is ratings volume (2.5K vs 72) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 3.5 for Carrier SmartHome against 3.5 for Control4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Carrier SmartHome has 2.5K ratings behind it against 72, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 11% of Carrier SmartHome's written reviews are positive against 38% of Control4's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
