# Scan QR Code Now vs FreeScan

The clearest difference is ads: FreeScan at none against Scan QR Code Now's shown. FreeScan also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Scan QR Code Now's advantage is ratings volume (13K vs 2) and chart position (#21 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scan QR Code Now sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and FreeScan sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

FreeScan holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scan QR Code Now has 13K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
