# Currents vs DiveDrop

The clearest difference is rating: DiveDrop at 5.0 against Currents's 4.2. DiveDrop also leads on iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.1). Currents's advantage is ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Currents sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and DiveDrop sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

DiveDrop holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Currents has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Currents ships an update every 5 days, DiveDrop every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
