# NewsNinja vs OpenWire RSS Reader

The clearest difference is rating: OpenWire RSS Reader at 5.0 against NewsNinja's 4.6. OpenWire RSS Reader also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 weeks). NewsNinja's advantage is ratings volume (41 vs 2) and device support (4 vs 1). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NewsNinja sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.79 per 7 days and OpenWire RSS Reader sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

OpenWire RSS Reader holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NewsNinja has 41 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

NewsNinja ships an update every 2 weeks, OpenWire RSS Reader every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 21, 2026 respectively.
