# Word Editor vs PDF Pocket

The clearest difference is monetization model: PDF Pocket at free with in-app purchases against Word Editor's subscription. PDF Pocket also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). Word Editor's advantage is ratings volume (767 vs 1) and rating (4.3 vs 4.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Word Editor sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and PDF Pocket sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Word Editor holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Word Editor has 767 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Word Editor ships an update every 3 weeks, PDF Pocket weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
