# Hawaii Explorer vs Hawaii Countdown

The clearest difference is rating: Hawaii Explorer at 5.0 against Hawaii Countdown's 3.8. Hawaii Explorer also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.1). Hawaii Countdown's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hawaii Countdown sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Hawaii Explorer asks for nothing beyond the download.

Hawaii Explorer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hawaii Countdown has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Hawaii Explorer ships an update every 6 months, Hawaii Countdown fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
