# MX Player vs LocalPlayer

The clearest difference is review sentiment: LocalPlayer at 50% against MX Player's 0%. LocalPlayer also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). MX Player's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 3.7) and ratings volume (534 vs 3). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MX Player sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and LocalPlayer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MX Player holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MX Player has 534 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of MX Player's written reviews are positive against 50% of LocalPlayer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
