# Explode 2 vs Texathon

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Texathon at 100% against Explode 2's 48%. Explode 2's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (6.6K vs 11). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Explode 2 sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Texathon sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Explode 2 holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Explode 2 has 6.6K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of Explode 2's written reviews are positive against 100% of Texathon's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Explode 2 ships an update every 3 weeks, Texathon every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
