# Screen Mirroring Smart Cast vs Family Tree Maker

The clearest difference is rating: Family Tree Maker at 5.0 against Screen Mirroring Smart Cast's 4.1. Screen Mirroring Smart Cast's advantage is update cadence (daily vs weekly) and ratings volume (22 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screen Mirroring Smart Cast sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Family Tree Maker sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Family Tree Maker holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Screen Mirroring Smart Cast has 22 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Screen Mirroring Smart Cast ships an update daily, Family Tree Maker weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
