# PexUniverse vs Open Local

The clearest difference is ratings volume: PexUniverse at 60 against Open Local's 1. Open Local's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for PexUniverse against 5.0 for Open Local. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PexUniverse has 60 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

PexUniverse ships an update every 3 weeks, Open Local every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
