# Shadowing Player vs Extract Text From Video

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Shadowing Player at 85% against Extract Text From Video's 0%. Shadowing Player also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). Extract Text From Video's advantage is rating (4.0 vs 3.3) and ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shadowing Player sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Extract Text From Video sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Extract Text From Video holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Extract Text From Video has 16 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 85% of Shadowing Player's written reviews are positive against 0% of Extract Text From Video's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and September 4, 2026 respectively.
