# Chipolo vs Nut

The clearest difference is monetization model: Nut at free against Chipolo's free with in-app purchases. Nut also leads on iOS requirement (10.0 vs 17.0). Chipolo's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks) and review sentiment (69% vs 52%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Chipolo holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chipolo has 18K ratings behind it against 858, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 69% of Chipolo's written reviews are positive against 52% of Nut's.

Chipolo ships an update weekly, Nut every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
