# PLAY vs Pango Kids

The clearest difference is monetization model: PLAY at free with in-app purchases against Pango Kids's subscription. PLAY also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Pango Kids's advantage is ratings volume (894 vs 26) and rating (4.4 vs 4.2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PLAY sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Pango Kids sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Pango Kids holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pango Kids has 894 ratings behind it against 26, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 51% of PLAY's written reviews are positive against 61% of Pango Kids's.

PLAY ships an update every 2 months, Pango Kids every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
