# Video Image Capture vs The Frame Camera

The clearest difference is review sentiment: The Frame Camera at 100% against Video Image Capture's 33%. The Frame Camera also leads on update cadence (every 4 months vs every 11 months). Video Image Capture's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 4.1). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Video Image Capture sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and The Frame Camera sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Video Image Capture holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 16 and 13 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of Video Image Capture's written reviews are positive against 100% of The Frame Camera's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Video Image Capture ships an update every 11 months, The Frame Camera every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
