# DEVONthink To Go 4 vs Kagi Assistant

The clearest difference is monetization model: Kagi Assistant at free against DEVONthink To Go 4's free with in-app purchases. Kagi Assistant also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 weeks) and review sentiment (54% vs 45%). DEVONthink To Go 4's advantage is ratings volume (242 vs 42). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DEVONthink To Go 4 sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Kagi Assistant sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $28.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

DEVONthink To Go 4 holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DEVONthink To Go 4 has 242 ratings behind it against 42, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of DEVONthink To Go 4's written reviews are positive against 54% of Kagi Assistant's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

DEVONthink To Go 4 ships an update every 3 weeks, Kagi Assistant every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
