# Toki vs Simple Journaling

The clearest difference is update cadence: Toki at weekly against Simple Journaling's every 2 months. Toki also leads on ratings volume (460 vs 1) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 26.2). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Toki sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Simple Journaling sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Simple Journaling holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Toki has 460 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Toki ships an update weekly, Simple Journaling every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
