# Auto Captions vs SnapScript

The clearest difference is rating: Auto Captions at 4.6 against SnapScript's 3.0. Auto Captions also leads on ratings volume (1.5K vs 2) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 26.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Auto Captions sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $29.99 per year and SnapScript sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $29.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Auto Captions holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Auto Captions has 1.5K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Auto Captions ships an update every 8 days, SnapScript weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
