# CleverType vs RevPDF

The clearest difference is rating: RevPDF at 4.7 against CleverType's 4.1. RevPDF also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (80% vs 65%). CleverType's advantage is ratings volume (150 vs 23). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CleverType sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and RevPDF sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

RevPDF holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CleverType has 150 ratings behind it against 23, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 65% of CleverType's written reviews are positive against 80% of RevPDF's.

CleverType ships an update fortnightly, RevPDF every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
