# The Open vs MASHIE

The clearest difference is monetization model: MASHIE at free against The Open's free with in-app purchases. MASHIE also leads on review sentiment (43% vs 28%) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.5). The Open's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

The Open ships an update every 4 days, MASHIE every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
