# The Open vs GolfCam

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: The Open at none against GolfCam's 17. The Open also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs fortnightly) and ratings volume (4.9K vs 544). GolfCam's advantage is review sentiment (49% vs 28%) and chart position (#107 vs unranked). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GolfCam sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. The Open asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for The Open against 4.6 for GolfCam. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Open has 4.9K ratings behind it against 544, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 28% of The Open's written reviews are positive against 49% of GolfCam's.

The Open ships an update every 4 days, GolfCam fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
