# OP.TCG vs Shiny

The clearest difference is rating: Shiny at 4.9 against OP.TCG's 4.6. Shiny also leads on ratings volume (3.6K vs 157) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OP.TCG sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Shiny sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shiny holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shiny has 3.6K ratings behind it against 157, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 82% of OP.TCG's written reviews are positive against 95% of Shiny's.

OP.TCG ships an update every 3 weeks, Shiny weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
