# Shiny vs Mintgrid

The clearest difference is update cadence: Shiny at every 5 days against Mintgrid's every 2 months. Shiny also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (3.6K vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shiny sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Mintgrid sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Shiny holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shiny has 3.6K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Shiny ships an update every 5 days, Mintgrid every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
