# Math Joy vs Excellence

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Excellence at none against Math Joy's 1. Excellence also leads on update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 46 months). Math Joy's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.5). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Math Joy sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Excellence asks for nothing beyond the download.

Math Joy ships an update every 46 months, Excellence every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
