# Firmware Update Tool vs ZAGG Keyboard

The clearest difference is rating: Firmware Update Tool at 4.0 against ZAGG Keyboard's 1.9. ZAGG Keyboard's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 20 months) and ratings volume (42 vs 5). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Firmware Update Tool holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 1.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ZAGG Keyboard has 42 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of Firmware Update Tool's written reviews are positive against 22% of ZAGG Keyboard's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Firmware Update Tool ships an update every 20 months, ZAGG Keyboard every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
