# Written vs AI Footprint

The clearest difference is monetization model: Written at free against AI Footprint's subscription. AI Footprint's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 12 months) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.6). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Written sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and AI Footprint sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Written against 5.0 for AI Footprint. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1 and 1 respectively.

Written ships an update every 12 months, AI Footprint every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
