# Drum Starz vs Real Drums!

The clearest difference is ads: Real Drums! at none against Drum Starz's shown. Real Drums! also leads on rating (4.4 vs 4.1). Drum Starz's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs every 4 months) and review sentiment (78% vs 54%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Drum Starz sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Real Drums! sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Real Drums! holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Drum Starz has 35 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of Drum Starz's written reviews are positive against 54% of Real Drums!'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Drum Starz ships an update every 8 days, Real Drums! every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
