# Sober City vs DreamReader

The clearest difference is update cadence: Sober City at every 6 days against DreamReader's every 2 months. Sober City also leads on monetization model (free vs freemium) and ratings volume (318 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sober City sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and DreamReader sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Sober City against 5.0 for DreamReader. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sober City has 318 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Sober City ships an update every 6 days, DreamReader every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
