# FocusFour vs Excelsior

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Excelsior at 100% against FocusFour's 56%. Excelsior also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 5 weeks). FocusFour's advantage is ratings volume (22 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FocusFour sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Excelsior sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Excelsior holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FocusFour has 22 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 56% of FocusFour's written reviews are positive against 100% of Excelsior's.

FocusFour ships an update every 5 weeks, Excelsior every 3 days. Both last shipped on October 9, 2026.
