# Piatto vs Palate Journal

The clearest difference is monetization model: Palate Journal at free against Piatto's free with in-app purchases. Piatto's advantage is ratings volume (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (18.0 vs 26.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Piatto sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Palate Journal sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Piatto against 5.0 for Palate Journal. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 1 respectively.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
