# Max vs DayTrace

The clearest difference is monetization model: DayTrace at freemium against Max's subscription. DayTrace also leads on ratings volume (12 vs 3). Max's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and review sentiment (100% vs 86%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Max sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and DayTrace sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Max holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 12 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Max's written reviews are positive against 86% of DayTrace's.

Max ships an update weekly, DayTrace every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
