# ScatteredNotes vs Comet

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: ScatteredNotes at none against Comet's 3. ScatteredNotes also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.0). Comet's advantage is ratings volume (7.8K vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Comet sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $20.00 per month. ScatteredNotes asks for nothing beyond the download.

ScatteredNotes holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Comet has 7.8K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

ScatteredNotes ships an update every 9 days, Comet weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
