# OutPaged Books vs Bare Reader

The clearest difference is update cadence: Bare Reader at every 5 days against OutPaged Books's every 5 weeks. Bare Reader also leads on iOS requirement (16.6 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OutPaged Books sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Bare Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

OutPaged Books ships an update every 5 weeks, Bare Reader every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
