# Rogue Words vs 4trees

The clearest difference is ads: Rogue Words at none against 4trees's shown. Rogue Words also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (1.7K vs 2). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Rogue Words holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rogue Words has 1.7K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 95% of Rogue Words's written reviews are positive against 100% of 4trees's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Rogue Words ships an update fortnightly, 4trees every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
