# Study Companion vs Study Surfers

The clearest difference is update cadence: Study Surfers at every 3 days against Study Companion's every 5 weeks. Study Surfers also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Study Companion's advantage is ratings volume (241 vs 7) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Study Companion sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Study Surfers sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Study Surfers holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Study Companion has 241 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 53% of Study Companion's written reviews are positive against 50% of Study Surfers's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Study Companion ships an update every 5 weeks, Study Surfers every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
