# Laney vs MidiStep

Laney and MidiStep both sit at 5.0 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Laney's written reviews are positive against 81% of MidiStep's. MidiStep's advantage is ratings volume (26 vs 4) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Laney costs $14.99 and MidiStep $14.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Laney holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MidiStep has 26 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Laney's written reviews are positive against 81% of MidiStep's.

Laney ships an update every 9 days, MidiStep every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
