# Step Tracker vs Step Pals

The clearest difference is monetization model: Step Tracker at free with in-app purchases against Step Pals's subscription. Step Tracker also leads on review sentiment (92% vs 55%) and rating (4.8 vs 4.3). Step Pals's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 weeks) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Step Tracker sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $0.79 per 7 days and Step Pals sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Step Tracker holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 407 and 118 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 92% of Step Tracker's written reviews are positive against 55% of Step Pals's.

Step Tracker ships an update every 2 weeks, Step Pals weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
