# Step Tracker vs VirtuPet

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Step Tracker at 411 against VirtuPet's 2. Step Tracker also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.5). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Step Tracker sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $0.79 per 7 days and VirtuPet sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Step Tracker holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Step Tracker has 411 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Step Tracker ships an update every 2 weeks, VirtuPet every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
