# Scanner vs PDF Scanner Pro ⊟

The clearest difference is monetization model: PDF Scanner Pro ⊟ at freemium against Scanner's subscription. PDF Scanner Pro ⊟ also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 8 months) and ratings volume (6.1K vs 267). Scanner's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (55% vs 40%). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scanner sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and PDF Scanner Pro ⊟ sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Scanner against 4.7 for PDF Scanner Pro ⊟. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Scanner Pro ⊟ has 6.1K ratings behind it against 267, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 55% of Scanner's written reviews are positive against 40% of PDF Scanner Pro ⊟'s.

Scanner ships an update every 8 months, PDF Scanner Pro ⊟ fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
