# Scanner vs FP Scanner

The clearest difference is monetization model: FP Scanner at freemium against Scanner's subscription. FP Scanner also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 8 months). Scanner's advantage is review sentiment (55% vs 37%) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 12). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scanner sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and FP Scanner sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 270 and 151 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 55% of Scanner's written reviews are positive against 37% of FP Scanner's.
