# Innovative Language Learning vs DEX

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: DEX at none against Innovative Language Learning's 13. DEX also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 67%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Innovative Language Learning's advantage is ratings volume (34K vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Innovative Language Learning sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. DEX asks for nothing beyond the download.

DEX holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Innovative Language Learning has 34K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 67% of Innovative Language Learning's written reviews are positive against 100% of DEX's.

Innovative Language Learning ships an update every 2 months, DEX every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
