# Encryptor vs Timr

The clearest difference is monetization model: Timr at free with in-app purchases against Encryptor's subscription. Timr also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (176 vs 29). Encryptor's advantage is device support (3 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Encryptor sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Timr sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.69 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Timr holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Timr has 176 ratings behind it against 29, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 57% and 57% positive.

Encryptor ships an update fortnightly, Timr weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
