# Copybook vs WriteChinese

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Copybook at 50% against WriteChinese's 25%. Copybook also leads on ratings volume (68 vs 21) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.0). WriteChinese's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Copybook sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and WriteChinese sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

WriteChinese holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 68 and 21 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Copybook's written reviews are positive against 25% of WriteChinese's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Copybook ships an update every 5 months, WriteChinese every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
