# VPN vs Secure VPN

The clearest difference is update cadence: Secure VPN at every 2 days against VPN's fortnightly. Secure VPN also leads on ratings volume (164 vs 18). VPN's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Secure VPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Secure VPN has 164 ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two.

VPN ships an update fortnightly, Secure VPN every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
