# Universal AC Remote Control + vs Scanner

The clearest difference is monetization model: Scanner at free with in-app purchases against Universal AC Remote Control +'s subscription. Scanner also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). Universal AC Remote Control +'s advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (3.9K vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Universal AC Remote Control + sells 25 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scanner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Universal AC Remote Control + has 3.9K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
