# NoteGen vs Critterlet

The clearest difference is ads: Critterlet at none against NoteGen's shown. Critterlet also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 76%). NoteGen's advantage is ratings volume (474 vs 5) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NoteGen sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month and Critterlet sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

NoteGen holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NoteGen has 474 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 76% of NoteGen's written reviews are positive against 100% of Critterlet's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

NoteGen ships an update weekly, Critterlet every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
