# Temp Email vs Private Relay

The clearest difference is ads: Private Relay at none against Temp Email's shown. Private Relay also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Temp Email's advantage is ratings volume (133 vs 1) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Temp Email sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month and Private Relay sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Private Relay holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Temp Email has 133 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Temp Email ships an update fortnightly, Private Relay every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
